Crop versus resize
Cropping removes parts of the image to change what remains in the frame. Resizing changes pixel dimensions, usually while preserving the image’s full content. If a square or vertical post needs a different composition, crop first and resize the resulting image for its destination.
How to use the crop tool
- Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP image.
- Select a common aspect ratio or use a free crop.
- Adjust the left, top, width and height values in source-image pixels.
- Download the crop and check the result before replacing the original.
Frequently asked questions
Does cropping reduce image quality?
Cropping itself removes pixels outside the selected region. The remaining pixels keep their source resolution, although JPEG and WebP exports may re-encode the image.
Can I crop to an exact ratio?
Yes. Choose a preset, then use crop dimensions whose width-to-height ratio matches it. The tool reports the selected pixel dimensions.
Is my image uploaded?
No. Image reading and export use your browser’s local image and canvas features.
